·  Buxheim Pond and German Museum of Carthusian Monastery

o Buxheim Pond – in earlier times it primarily served for securing the monks´ livelihood – today popular destination for people looking for recreation and catharsis. Boat rental and miniature golf.

o Meseum of Carthusian Monastery – gives an overview over the development of the Carthusian fraternity – especially worth seeing is the cell house with cloister, the Carthusian chirch and the Anna Chapel.


·  Historic Center of  Memmingen: Guided tours every friday

o The guided tours arranged by the city information take place indepently of weather and cost 2,00 € each person – it´s worth it!

·  Blautopf – „Blue Pot“   

    •   The „Blue Pot“ is a intermittent spring at the southern edge of the Swabian Highlands. Situated in the town Blaubeuren, 10 miles west of Ulm, it forms the outflow of the Blau Cave and feeds the Blau (“Blue”), a river leading into the Danube river about 9 miles to the east, in the city area of Ulm.

·  Wildlife park Tannheim

o Reachable by foot or by car, about 3 miles from the airfield

o A wildlife park with all our nature provides: Around a forester´s lodge, situated directly at the Iller channel, it accomodates red and fallow deer, moufflons and a multitudinous group of wild pigs, in total more then 150 animals.

·  Catholic Parish Church St. Martin

o Built in Tannheim between 1700 and 1702 and sanctified on September 25th 1705. It´s one of the first baroque churches in southern Germany and part of the Upper Swabian Baroque Street (eastern route). Those enroute in the valley of the Iller can see Tannheim´s landmark afar – the onion crested dome.

·  Bad Schussenried – Germany´s most beautiful village church

o The Schussenried Monastery is a former imperial abbey in Bad Schussenried (Upper Swabia). The Premonstratensian´s Canons Regular Monastery existed from 1183 until 1803. Today the Convent Building is used as event and exhibition centre under the name “New Cloister Schussenried” , the former abbey church St Magnus serves as a catholic parish church.

·  Maria Steinbach – pilgrimage church

o Already in the 12th century a romanic church existed, which was replaced by a late gothic building in about 1510. About 15 miles from Tannheim – get a picture of it yourself!
